Conservation of the Amazon (ECOSOC)
The Amazon Rainforest crosses nine countries, covers over two million square miles (five million square kilometers), and holds an estimated 10% of all global biodiversity. This natural cornucopia also holds abundant resources for human development, from land to lumber to mineral deposits, the exploitation of which has led to significant environmental devastation. Their exploitation further threatens hundreds of indigenous tribes, who call the Amazon home. Your job, as a delegate on this committee, is to balance economic development with environmental and tribal concerns.

International Council of Arbitration for Sport (ICAS)
Berlin 1936, Tommie Smith and John Carlos, the Miracle on Ice—sports and politics have always been intertwined on the world stage. In this committee, you'll tackle two modern issues that combine athletics with policy: sportswashing and gender equity. Sportswashing is the use of sporting events to distract from a government's wrongdoing. In recent decades, accusations of sportwashing have been leveled against a variety of events and nations. Gender equity in sports stretches from fair pay of athletes to equal opportunities for both sexes to broader issues of sexism in the workforce. We can't wait to see how you draw up resolutions to shape the future of international athletics.

Genome Editing (UNGA)
Recent breakthroughs in bioinformatics, DNA sequencing, and CRISPR gene editing have had profound implications for modern medicine. Without proper regulations however, these new technologies may create existential threats. In this committee, you'll represent your country as a delegate to the WHO and work to pass resolutions on two key issues: human and viral gene editing. How will you address designer babies, genetic therapies, gene warfare, and gain-of-function research?

Crisis Committees
Korean Peninsula (Present-Day Crisis)
While often regarded as a fossilized Cold War–era conflict, the Korean peninsula is in fact an ever-evolving front for new resolutions or escalations. Set in the present-day, this committee addresses not only tensions between the North and South, but also how these tensions play into larger geopolitical disputes: nuclear proliferation, political borders, and Sino-Western relations. Delegates on this committee, playing Korean leaders and their allies, will have one last chance to negotiate, or risk total war.

Revolutions of 1848 (Historical Crisis)
It's no surprise that 1848 CE is often referred to as the "Springtime of Nations." In France, the German-speaking lands, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and Italy, poor economies and new ideologies had planted the seeds of revolt and reform. Delegates in this committee will find themselves in 1848 Europe, making the choices that will define the continent well into the 20th century. Only in this committee will delegates engage in mid-19th century warfare while simultaneously debating who and how the state should rule, through the lenses of Socialism, Liberalism, Monarchism, and Nationalism.

Zimbabwean War of Independence (Historical Crisis)
Though rarely discussed in American history textbooks, Rhodesia and its fall give key insights into broader patterns of African colonialism, imperialism, and revolution. The Zimbabwean War of Independence featured both Rhodesia, one of the last remnants of the British Empire in Africa, and Zimbabwe, the last nation to acquire sovereignty in Africa. As such, the war marked a watershed in the history of African nations. On this committee, delegates will each play the role of a specific person involved in the conflict. They will determine the future of Rhodesia and Zimbabwe through their portfolio powers and public directives.

United Federation of Nations (Sci-Fi Joint Crisis Committee)
Loosely based on a popular Japanese animated series, this committee takes place in a fictional future world of empire and global conflict. Delegates will be initially placed into either a Brittania or a United Federation of Nations–allied room. While the committee will feature aspects of science fiction and fantasy, especially in the portfolio powers available to the delegates, the two rooms will each address very real and pertinent issues regarding global security and power. What will you do with the power to change the entire world?
